No Right or Wrong

WE ARE NOT TRYING TO BE RIGHT OR WRONG, OR INTERPRETING HIDDEN CLUES. WE ARE INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU FIND INTERESTING.

Sometimes people listen to the process and tell us at the end that we were right on, as if we were trying to guess something about a person's life. We are not interested in guessing or interpreting, but rather opening out the story we have heard and treating it as a story. We tell the participant that he or she is not her/his story, but rather, they are invited in this process to become an interested audience to their story. We as a team refer to the character in the story, not the participant, to the plot, not what actually has happened to the story as a text to be read rather than a problem to be solved, or a puzzle to be interpreted. We are not detectives so much as explorers who take a journey on the map of the story you have provided to see what we might discover about the territory. You and only you have the choice about whether any of this has relevance to your story, and to your life.
